Day 2 of The ChannelPro Network's Defend conference in New Jersey was great too, but I had to miss a lot of sessions so I could get back to the office. My main goal was to see the different vendors. Like shopping at the mall, you often go into stores you never knew existed until you see them there. I got to talk to the Blumira team again. I've been checking out their SIEM for a few weeks now, and I think it looks like a great option. Jack Robb was able to show me all of the features, but the best thing was the pricing model. Compared to MS Sentinel, you really know what your bill would be from month to month, and there is no high water mark that keeps the bill higher if you decrease usage. Of course I talked to Doug Denny and Grant Lillard from Perception Point some more when things were still quiet because everyone else was grabbing breakfast. They were giving me some great ideas about how to get our customers more interested in getting additional security. So many prospective customers don't want anything but their Microsoft licenses, but you need the additional protection. They protect your business email, but that is just one attack vector. They also have a browser plugin so that any user checking their personal email would get protection too and prevent them from clicking on bad links. You should check them out. Lastly, I made a new battle buddy. That is an Army term. Tia Hawkins and I went to the same company for AIT in the Army, so we were talking about our time in the service. There is automatically a connection between soldiers and veterans. It was like reconnecting with an old friend. She showed me all of the cool stuff about the VOIP solution from Loop Communications LLC, and she has discounted pricing for our non-profit customers, so I'll be looking at that with a client next week.

Another great (but tragic) example of why reducing human error to zero & minimizing mis-configuration thru automation & modern telemetry tools is absolutely the way to go. This is critical for datacenters & critical network infrastructure as a whole. Thanks Shamus McGillicuddy.

The Comcast Business 2024 Cybersecurity Threat Report highlights phishing as a primary method for cybercriminals to gain access to networks. "[Phishing] is encouraging people to share their personal information with malicious actors so that the information can be harvested and monetized," Hagemann explained, offering the basic definition of this malicious practice. Someone said my numbers were wrong in the post about Cogent's securitization of IPv4 lease revenues. (https://lnkd.in/exJC4dSF ) So allow me to quote Dave Schaeffer, CEO of Cogent, on Friday's earnings call: "We are leasing approximately 12.2 million of these IPV4 addresses out for a monthly revenue run rate of approximately $3.4 million a month. We have securitized $3.1 million of that monthly leased revenue, and this represents revenue from 11.1 million lease addresses.
